June 22, 2023What is Safe Bars?
Safe Bars is an organization that helps bar and restaurant staff create a safe and welcoming environment for patrons, and safe and respectful workplaces for staff. Whether between customers, staff members, or between staff and customer, Safe Bars provides alcohol-serving establishments with the tools to prevent and address sexual assault and harassment.
Thanks to generous funding from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, CSN is proud to bring the Safe Bars experts to our community to offer their train-the-trainer program to local individuals and businesses.
Why is this important?

will experience some sort of sexual violence in their lifetimes.
Rates of sexual assault are highest for young adults up to age 34. Approximately one in four women and one in six men will experience some sort of sexual violence in their lifetimes. Jackson Hole has a large population of young people, a thriving bar and restaurant scene, and a high level of transiency. Sadly, sexual violence happens everywhere, and Jackson is no different. With Safe Bars, we can empower folks to make a difference addressing a problem that often seems overwhelming in scope.
This project was funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole.
Upcoming Training Opportunities
May 15 & 16, 2023
9:00am - 4:00pm
Local Bar & Restaurant
From active bystander skills to de-escalation techniques, Safe Bars will train a group of violence prevention and service industry staff in keeping alcohol-serving establishments safe and violence-free. After this train-the-trainer, the team can then split up to share their training with their workplaces and any other interested alcohol-serving establishment.
Thanks to the generous and constant support of Jen Bradoff and the Local and Trio teams, the next Safe Bars training opportunity will take place at Local Bar and Restaurant. Trainees can receive $20/hour for the training.
Update: This train-the-trainer is full - but please reach out to adrian@csnjh.org to schedule a time for your bar/restaurant staff to receive the 2.5 hour training to certify your establishment as a Safe Bar.
Who should take the train-the-trainer program?
Bar and restaurant staff who are willing and ready to invest their time and energy into sexual violence prevention.
Upon completion of this 2-day program, attendees are official Safe Bars Trainers, and expected to share the training with their workplace, as well as work with other local Safe Bars Trainers to reach as many alcohol-serving establishments in our community as possible. If this is you, please reach out to Adrian by email.
What if...
What if I don’t have the capacity to send employees to the 2-day, train-the-trainer program, but still want my establishment to receive sexual violence prevention training?
We get it! Let us know that you’re interested in the 2.5 hour training program by emailing Adrian. We've got a team of trainers ready to train your staff!
